Our mission is to stop the construction and operation of a geothermal energy plant - it risks polluting the River Camel and damaging the environment, with long-lasting, devastating effects, from Slaughterbridge to the sea.

So far, Geothermal Energy Ltd (GEL) has avoided undertaking an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), a step that is vital to fully understanding the risks, and one that would necessitate considering alternative locations. They appointed consultants (Wardell Armstrong) whose website makes clear they are able to help companies avoid the need for an EIA, even on schemes where you would expect they meet the threshold.

The proposed site is located on the map shown.

The drawings for the site layout and positioning within the greenfield site have been altered and will probably continue to be amended by GEL until the final application is submitted (which we expect to be in the Autumn of 2025). The map shows where the site is currently proposed. It is adjacent to the wind turbine at Tregath Business Park and directly opposite the houses which form the hamlet of Slaughterbridge.

The noise pollution, light pollution and seismic activity caused by 24hr a day drilling will be life-changing for residents. These factors are in addition to the irreversible effects on our wildlife and River Camel.
